Hope Cottage

Day #8 of Hope

Meet Jean Sherry.

Jean has been a volunteer at Hope Cottage since she got her Lioness Club involved in 1992 (26 years)!

“We started serving meals in the summer of 1992 on a very hot evening. When we got out of our car, a man was sitting on the sidewalk by the front door. As we approached the door and rang the bell, he smiled at us. When we left when the meal was over, the same man was sitting in the same spot and said to us as we came out “may God bless you for the work you are doing”. It was very heart-warming and we felt that we had, in a small way made his day brighter. Volunteering at Hope Cottage is a hands on project and very rewarding, and that is why we continue to help out.”

This holiday season Jean suggests helping by giving your time, and it that isn’t possible, financial and moral support.

Thank you Jean!

Day #7 of Hope

Meet Sean Doucet.

Sean is one of the Friends of Hope Cottage, and has been involved with our organizations for 18 great years!

When asked about his favourite experience with Hope Cottage, this is what Sean had to say:

"The first time I brought in turkeys for the Christmas meal I decided to bring my oldest son with me to help carve them. He was only 4 years old at the time. Since then, all three of my boys have come in to help carve turkeys and have gotten to see what Hope Cottage is all about."

This holiday season Sean suggests making a donation to help purchase food, or volunteering your time to help serve guests.
